In a surprising crossover event that defies traditional expectations, the game developer has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Uncovered

According to the official announcement, "An unusual encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of banned practices and fearsome transformations echo through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine cult.

The adventure concentrates on "bizarre trials and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview concludes with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Extra Content

Players who finish the adventure will receive an unique katana in addition to multiple objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique arms
• Survey Corps steed

Latest Free Story Update

This patch also adds the game's third free story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
